Head Varsity Coach - Chris Young
Coach Young will be entering his 12th year coaching and sixth season as the girls head basketball coach at Saguaro High School. In five years, Coach Young has led the Sabercats to a 108-50 record, the school's first ever girls basketball state championship and received the honors of 2012/13 AZ Big Schools Coach of the Year, ABCA Division II Coach of the Year, 2011/12 Division II Section III Coach of the Year and All Northeast Valley Coach of the Year. Previously Coach Young has been a Varsity Assistant for girls basketball at Springfield High School in Ohio (2005), a JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant for girls basketball at Saguaro High School (2006-2007), and a Freshman and JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant for boys basketball at Chaparral High School (2008-2010). Coach Young graduated from Kent St. University in Kent, OH and received his Masters in Education from the University of Phoenix. Coach Young also received a Broadcasting degree from the Ohio Center for Broadcasting and has worked in radio in Cleveland, OH covering the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Assistant Varsity/Freshman Head Coach - Reggie Johnson
Coach Johnson enters his ninth year at Saguaro High School as an assistant varsity basketball coach and after two successful seasons as the JV Head Coach, Coach Johnson will be taking on the Freshman Head Coach position. He played three years of High School basketbal in Baltimore, Md. and two years with the USAF traveling team in US and Overseas. Coach Johnson has 20 years coaching experience including youth club teams, Junior High School, Senior High School, and USAF mens Base Teams, and is also an AAU, NFHS, and NCAA certified coach. Coach Johnson received his BA in Healthcare Management from Park College in Missouri.
Assistant Varsity Coach - Summer Wright
Summer Wright will be entering her forth season with the Saguaro Sabercats. Summer was born and raised in Oregon where she was a scholar athlete, participating in basketball, softball, tennis and
soccer. She was a four-year starter, playing basketball at Linn-Benton Community
College before accepting a scholarship to play at Division II Minot State
University in North Dakota. Wright was Assistant Coach at Dakota State
University in South Dakota, helping the team reach the Sweet 16 in 2008, and
Hasting’s College in Nebraska where the team finished as national runner up

JV Head Coach - Marvin Sumpter
Coach Sumpter joins the Saguaro Girls Basketball program in his first year as the JV Head Coach. Previously Coach Sumpter lead the Mesquite Freshman Girls team to a 16-1 record. Prior to his season with Mesquite, Coach Sumpter spent 5 years coaching at Tempe Prep Academy. During his time there he coached girls and boys JV basketball as well as being the Special Teams Coordinator for the Varsity football team. Along with coaching high school sports, Coach Sumpter has a passion training athletes and helping them improve their speed and agility. Marvin was born and raised in Phoenix. Marvin currently resides in Cave Creek, AZ with his two sons, Dayvion and Marvin III.
